Quick answer: To report a tone, email [email protected] with the tone’s page link, proof that you own the work, your contact details and a good-faith statement. We review reports within two working days and remove infringing tones quickly.
Every tone on RingtoneDownload.org is original, released under CC0 or CC BY, commissioned with a full rights buyout, or licensed for redistribution. We keep a licence record for every file. Even so, mistakes can happen, and we want to fix them fast.
How to send a report
Email [email protected] with the subject “DMCA report”. If you came from a tone page, the link above fills in the tone for you. Please include:
- The page link of the tone, for example
https://ringtonedownload.org/ringtone/tone-name/. - Proof that you own the work, such as the original project file, a registration, a link to the original publication, or a contract.
- Your contact details: full name, postal address, phone number and email.
- A description of the original work you believe was copied.
- This statement: “I have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.”
- This statement: “The information in this notice is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner or authorised to act on behalf of the owner.”
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).
What happens next
- We confirm receipt, usually within two working days.
- We check our licence record for the tone.
- If the report is valid, or if we cannot confirm our licence, we remove the tone and its files.
- We let you know the outcome.
Counter-notice
If your tone was removed and you believe this was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same email with the tone link, a statement under penalty of perjury that the removal was a mistake, your contact details, consent to the jurisdiction of your local court, and your signature. We may restore the tone if the complainant does not start legal action within 10 to 14 working days.
Repeat infringers
We do not accept tones from anyone who repeatedly submits material they do not own.
